101 Ranch Investigation
10-04-2002

Description - Photos - Stats

Description

Founded in 1879 by Col. George W. Miller, the 101 Ranch was a 110,000 acre community, with it's own school, animal attractions, cafe, hotel, oil refinery, and even it's own money. With a population of 3,000 people, it was one of the largest ranches in the United States. In 1905, Joe Miller started the 101 Ranch Wild West Show, featuring trick roping, shooting, horse riding, Indian dancers, bulldogging, roping and other popular cowboy tricks. It wasn't uncommon to see famous cowboys like Will Rogers, Pawnee Bill, and Zack Mulhall there, to name a few. The 101 Ranch is now a National Historical Landmark, and I highly recommend visiting this site if you are ever in Northern Oklahoma. It is now shrouded with rumors of ghosts and spirits, perhaps those of the cowboys that once lived here.

This is a very interesting site, whether it is haunted or not is hard to say. I got a few interesting photos in the basement and yard of the foundation of the house. Negative EVP from the basement, and a few small EMF hits in the basement. Other than that, we did not witness much activity first hand. Trey's car battery was dead after the investigation, whether it was paranormal or not is hard to say. The photos alone is enough to say that there is something interesting about this site. Paranormal or not, this is a great historical landmark, and I recommend you visit it if you have the chance.

We did a minor investigation of Cowboy Hill too, a mass grave where cowboys from the ranch were buried. There are only 4 graves, 3 fenced in graves for one of the brothers that founded the 101 Ranch Wild West Show, Zack Miller, and also Jack Webb and Sam Stigall. The other grave simply says "Cowboy Hill", and represents a mass grave for the workers of the ranch. There are hundreds of dirt spots where hundreds of people were buried in unmarked graves at Cowboy Hill.
